The Oakmont Restaurant

IMG_1336Advertised as “A Great Neighborhood Restaurant”, the Oakmont has a unique charm all its own.  Located on the golf course in the midst of country club’s residential area, this actual ‘neighborhood’ restaurant has food for almost everyone.  With large screen tv’s on the walls and beautiful golf course views, the feeling is that of an upscale sports restaurant and bar.

Speaking to one of the owners, I discovered that this yummy establishment has been thriving since March 23, 2015 when it opened.  The owner I spoke with is one of five owners who also own other restaurants in town such as Taverna, Busters, The Patio and now, the Oakmont.  The staff were very friendly, and the service was excellent.

I was surprised to learn that there was a restaurant that I had not experienced in Flagstaff.  Friends and I decided to try it out, and we were happily surprised when it surpassed our expectations.  Whether sitting outside or enjoying the view from inside, this place provides an ambiance for all to enjoy.  The outdoor patio has your choice of tables in a shaded overhang area or tables in the sun with umbrellas.  Comfortable patio furniture for daytime or evening reclining surround tiled fire pits and border the outdoor eating area providing an inviting ambiance to the scenario.  A sports and bicycle theme is also prevalent, appealing to Flagstaff’s athletic and college constituency.  Televisions around the room display the latest in sports and news.

The menu was varied.  I savored the amazing “Pear Shaped” salad featuring Spinach, candied pecans, sliced pear, dried california cherries, blue cheese crumbles, and apple cider vinaigrette.  Of course, I am not a blue cheese fan, so they willingly substituted feta chess for the blue stuff.  My friend ordered a burger with bacon that almost made my mouth water.  The portions were not stingy.  There was plenty of food on our plates to satisfy even my voracious appetite.

So – whether you are just passing through, or have lived in Flagstaff a long time, be sure and stop by the Oakmont for lunch or dinner.  Be sure to tell them that Team Tait sent you!  Enjoy!
